Stranded Boats – Glamping

A boat shaped glamping accomodation with upscale boat comfort and with the intention to evoke authentic experiences of the surroundings (exposed to the elements – sea, wind, sun, rain). These vessels are placed on the location in coastal camping areas as a kind of loosely dry-docked accommodation. Like retired boats, the volumes are freely placed on the terrain, supported by pillars on platforms or “stranded” on rocks and surrounded by greenery. Trees grow freely through the decks while the rust is washed away and absorbed into the ground.

The “boats” are oriented and directed towards specific vistas broadening the view from the interior towards the surroundings and additionally encouraging lounging in nets. The deck represents the living room – a terrace organised around trees, with or without a pool, spaces shaded with sails or compeltely exposed to the elements. This is the area where most of the day and part of the night is spent. The more comfortable, a bit upscaled accomodation is organized as two offset modules with the deck developed in between. In such way the intimacy of terraces is enhanced as well as outdoor living encouraged.

Interiors of modules are inspired by boat interiors. They provide maximum utility in a compressed form with a specific subtile design manner that draws the inspiraton from sea navigation elements. Some pieces of furniture are handmade, with a designer signature. The textiles used are branded with an additional layer of specifically designed graphics.

The modules are prefabricated in facilities by domestic manufacturers. The steel structures are insulated to allow year-round accommodation. The final cladding and appearance of the vessels is adapted to each location, in terms of color and texture.

Almost like organisms in symbiosis with the natural environment, these glamping boats create a compatible coexistence with nature in their contrasting appearance – just like humans, just like tourism.
