Boats anchored in woods – Glamping boats
Integration into the existing environment was achieved through the use of lightweight, prefabricated and modular structures, as well as by “breaking up” the classic cabin into two modules: a living wing and a sleeping wing.
Distinctive and unique glamping units are ‘anchored’ in the Porton Nature Hideouts camp in Rovinj.
Almost every position required a specific layout, meaning that each unit – as a combination of two modules and a terrace – is effectively unique. In a way, the modules “turn towards the view”, thereby dictating their positioning on the terrain.
The specific comfort of a boat with authentic experiences (exposure to the sea, wind, sun, rain), alongside sleeping cabins with views of the surroundings – these are the conditions that shape the glamping boats. They are then positioned in the zones of coastal campsites like a kind of loose dry dock.
Like retired boats, they are loosely laid on the terrain or supported by pillars, on platforms, “beached” on the rocks, overgrown with greenery. Trees thus grow undisturbed through the decks, and rust from the surface washes away freely and absorbs into the ground.
The orientation and openness of the boats are directed towards specific views, which allows a wide vista for the indoor stay and further invites lounging in hammocks.
The main living space is the deck – a terrace developed around the trees, in variations with or without a pool, covered with sails or exposed to the sun and rain, where most of the day and part of the night are spent. In higher-comfort structures with two angled modules, the deck develops in the intermediate space, which further contributes to the privacy of such terraces and promotes outdoor living.
The interior of the module, in the spirit of a ship’s interior, encompasses the maximum content in a compressed form that subtly draws on navigation elements. Part of the furniture is handmade with a designer signature, and an additional layer of graphic design and branding is applied to the textiles.
Completely prefabricated in the halls of domestic manufacturers, with a stable steel structure and infill of solid insulation properties, the glamping boat enables a year-round stay in a pleasant climate within the module itself. The final cladding and appearance of the boat adapt to each individual location in terms of the colour and texture of the sheet metal.
As organisms in symbiosis with the natural environment, these boats create a compatible coexistence with nature in their contrasting appearance – just like humans, just like tourism.
